Behaviour Teaching assistant/ Support worker - Hackney

We are currently seeking a teaching assistant to support in an 'outstanding 'special needs school in the borough of Hackney to join a specialist team. This will be supporting in secondary class of mixed pupils with a diagnosis of high functioning autism, atypical autism or Asperger's Syndrome with some underlying difficulties in social communication, behavioural or emotional difficulties. You will need to have previous experience of supporting with special needs children or adults as well as a pro active, engaging personality with loads of energy and enthusiasm to support SEN! As a teaching assistant here you be providing both 1:1 intervention and small group support and be able to create a nurturing learning environment. There may be some elements of personal care and toileting needed so only apply if you are comfortable to do so. For the successful candidate there is the view to take onto a permanent contract which will be subject to performance.

  • Experience of supporting with autism or any other special needs such as behavioural, communication needs
  • Able to deliver child centred 1:1 and group support
  • Patience and understanding of working with special needs students
  • Monday - Friday 8.30am-3.30pm term time
  • Potential to secure permanent contract
