Job description

Supply Teaching Assistants - Primary Pupil Referral Unit - Manchester

  • ADHOC / Supply Teaching Assistants required for busy Primary School
  • Work to suit your lifestyle
  • Classroom support with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs

Our partner school have showed an increased need for Team – Teach trained teaching assistants to work on a supply / ADHOC basis from September 2017.

This school caters for young people aged 5 – 11 with social, emotional and mental health needs, all of whom have been excluded from their mainstream Primary School. Integration back into mainstream school is the desired outcome for the young people within this school however this is not always possible. This school has three sites in Withington, Gorton and Wythenshawe.

This setting works in line with the National Curriculum and will aim to bridge the gap with their mainstream peers wherever possible. A Teaching Assistant who has previous experience working within a mainstream classroom would be beneficial due to being required to support academically.

Challenging behaviour is a common occurrence at this school, therefore an up-to-date Team – Teach certificate is desirable. Team – Teach is a divert and de-escalation strategy which uses verbal de-escalation and, as a last resort, physical intervention. Ideally the Teaching Assistant will already have this training, however Teaching Personnel run 12 hour Team – Teach courses every half term so can assist in the training.

This school can also offer longer term and permanent positions if more suitable, so applicants who require longer term work are encouraged to apply.

If you would like flexible work to suit your lifestyle and work needs, please send a copy of your up-to-date CV to

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
