Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Location: Southport (PR8)

Pay: £11.85-12.50

Working hours: 8:30-15:30

The Headteacher and Governing Body of a reputable Faith school in Southport are on the look out for a strong Teaching Assistant to provide learning and behaviour support on a 1:1 basis with a pupil in Year 5. This role will be to start as soon as possible (following 30th October 2023) until the end of the academic year and will likely be extended into the 2023/24 academic year. The working hours for this role at 8:30-15:30, full-time (Monday-Friday) term time only.

The school have received funding to provide 1:1 support to an individual in Year 5. This child has Autism and requires additional support particularly during English lessons where they are less engaged. They require a well-humoured TA who can confidently differentiate activities to meet their interests and maximise attainment. This child is very bright and is very interested in Maths. Generally, the child displays excellent behaviour, and responds well to a strict routine.

The Headteacher is keen to secure an inspirational practitioner who is confident leading by example and supports the whole school Ethos. The school has a specially resourced unit for pupils with SEND, which caters for pupils who have speech and language difficulties. The child in question is on roll of this school and is fully integrated in the class lessons, however, does require some calm time in the provision.

Essentials:

-          Have at least 20 days school-based experience within the last 18 months.

-          Hold a Level 2 childcare qualification or equivalent.

-          Have experience of working alongside children or vulnerable adults with Autism.

-          Have the confidence and ability to liaise with the class teacher and SENCO regarding pupil progress.

-          Have the ability to differentiate activities to suit the needs of individual pupils.

-          Be a positive role model for all children.

-          Enjoy working as part of a large team within a busy school environment.

Preferred:

-          Have paid experience within a school.

-          Have experience within a KS2 class.

-          Experience as a support worker.

-          Experience of working within a Faith School.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
