Behaviour Support Mentor / SEND Assistant

Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Full-time (8:30am – 3:30pm)
Daily Rate: £95 – £105

Teaching Personnel is recruiting proactive and dedicated Behaviour Support Mentors to work across secondary schools in Hartlepool and the surrounding area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who require additional guidance with behaviour and emotional regulation, helping them succeed both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted behavioural support to identified students on a short-term basis
  • Provide focused 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Support pupils in developing coping strategies and positive behaviour habits
  • Work closely with SENCo teams, pastoral staff, and teaching colleagues
  • Adhere to school behaviour policies and safeguarding procedures at all times

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural or additional needs
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Adaptability to tailor approaches to individual student needs
  • A patient, resilient and proactive mindset

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
