Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Mentor and Learner Support Assistant to start in October at a Primary School in Croydon on a full-time basis. A lovely Academy school in central Croydon has a great opportunity for an experienced and influential mentor who will be working with pupils in KS2 who require 1:1 support and guidance throughout their daily regime. What they are looking for? A candidate who is experienced working with children and/or young adults providing support, mentorship, and management of SEMH and behavioural difficulties, as well as supporting children with ADHD and ADD. Having experience working with children with a range of needs in a school setting would be ideal. Team Teach or alternative physical restraint training is desirable. The right candidate will be a role model for the children, having a passion for influencing young people and giving guidance. The successful applicant will: • Support KS2 pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. • Work closely with the KS2 Class Teachers. • Provide support both inside and outside of the classroom, adapting to any given situation. • Be able to devise programs and run interventions on their own initiative. • Provide emotional and academic support to the children under their care. • Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team, Parents and external Organisations on the progress and development of the children. • Provide commitment to a long-term /permanent role. Requirements: • A minimum of 6 months’ experience working with young children is essential. • Strong understanding of children’s SEMH needs. • Available immediately. • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update service. • Team Teach or similar qualifications (highly desirable) • Degree qualified and/or relevant SEN trained (highly desirable) To be a successful candidate you will need to have a background working with pupils in a similar role such as; a sports coach, teaching assistant, youth worker or residential care worker with vulnerable pupils who may have Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues.
