Teaching Assistant – STF Units, Behaviour Support & 1:1 Roles

Location: Swansea
Position: Teaching Assistant (Primary & Secondary settings)
Start Date: Ongoing opportunities available

About the Role

We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work across schools in Swansea, supporting pupils in STF units, behaviour support roles, and 1:1 placements.

This is a rewarding role for individuals who are confident, patient, and motivated to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people who may face additional challenges in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs

  • Working within STF units and alternative provision settings

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils who require additional guidance

  • Assisting teachers in creating a safe, structured and engaging learning environment

  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Suitable Experience & Backgrounds

We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, including:

  • Teaching Assistants

  • Youth Workers

  • Coaches or Sports Leaders

  • Childcare practitioners

  • Care Workers

  • Individuals with personal or family experience supporting children

  • Sports or physical activity backgrounds

  • Anyone with relevant experience working with children or young people

Formal qualifications are desirable but not essential – the right attitude, resilience and commitment are key.

Essential Skills & Qualities

  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach

  • Confidence working with challenging behaviour

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work flexibly across different school settings

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
