Teaching Personnel are urgently looking for a motivated TA/Learning Support Assistant who can hit the ground running! It is in an ASD unit based in Southwark in Years 3-4. 

About the School 

This school is a lovely primary school focused on educating students in a caring, nurturing environment. It values diversity and aims to engage students through creative, fun and experience-based learning. 

The school consists of 2 main departments - the primary school and a specialist school for children who have an EHCP with Autism Spectrum Disorder. With only around 60 students in the small specialist unit, class sizes are small with approximately 6 per class. This ensures excellent focus on the individual needs of each and every student. The curriculum is carefully tailored according to the student's needs and a support plan is curated collaboratively between staff, therapists, parents and the council. Facilities at this school are fantastic - offering soft play areas, therapy rooms, sensory rooms and indoor and outdoor play areas. 

Your responsibilites would include:

  • Supporting pupils throughout the school day
  • Assisting the pupil with the work set out by the teacher
  • Behaviour/learning support
  • Supporting with the use of additional learning resources such as visual aids and social stories 
  • Holding 1:1 or small group sessions
  • Aiding with the set up and set down of the classroom
  • Maintaining high levels of health and safety with the pupils
  • Aiding the teacher with the day to day running of the class

To apply for this role you must have:

  • A strong desire to work with children with ASD or additional needs
  • Experience working in a school or education setting
  • A good understanding of Safeguarding
  • Degree educated (or equivalent) desirable
  • Child Workforce DBS on the update service (ideal if you have one already but if not, we can help with this) 
  • Living near Carshalton
  • Available to start immediately on a full-time basis

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
