We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Support Assistant to join our alternative provision based in Liverpool. Our setting supports students who have found mainstream education challenging and require a more tailored, supportive approach to learning. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every student is valued, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural and emotional needs
- Help implement and maintain clear behaviour management strategies
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support engagement in learning
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals to provide consistent, high-quality support
- Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, resilience, and responsibility
Essential Qualities and Experience:
- Proven experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A non-judgemental, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Ability to set boundaries while building positive, supportive relationships
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their full potential
- Team player with a flexible and collaborative mindset
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Desirable:
- Experience in an alternative provision, PRU, or specialist school
- Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, psychology, or behaviour support
- Team Teach or other de-escalation training (training can be provided if needed)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
