Do you have the resilience, confidence and determination to support young people who may have experienced significant challenges in education?

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist secondary alternative provision in Bury that supports pupils who require a different approach to learning. The school is committed to helping young people rebuild confidence, develop positive relationships and achieve success both in education and beyond.

This is not your typical Teaching Assistant role. Every day brings new challenges, new achievements and genuine opportunities to positively impact a young person's future.

What You'll Be Doing

✅ Supporting students both in lessons and around the school

✅ Encouraging engagement, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning

✅ Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours with confidence and professionalism

✅ Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and wider support teams to meet individual pupil needs

✅ Acting as a positive role model and consistent presence throughout the school day

✅ Helping to create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment

✅ Supporting students accessing vocational and employability-focused pathways, including:

  • KS3 Employ
  • KS4 Employ
  • Re-Engage

These pathways help students develop practical skills, workplace readiness and confidence for future education, training and employment opportunities.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

✔ Is confident managing behaviours that may challenge

✔ Remains calm, professional and solution-focused under pressure

✔ Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills

✔ Is proactive and able to use their own initiative

✔ Is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people

✔ Can build trust and positive relationships with students who may have disengaged from education

✔ Has experience within education, youth work, care, SEMH, SEND, sports coaching or similar settings (desirable but not essential)

We Also Welcome Applicants From Vocational & Industry Backgrounds

  • Construction & Trades
  • Hair & Beauty
  • Mechanics & Motor Vehicle
  • Catering & Hospitality

  • Apprenticeship or Vocational Training

Many students thrive when learning is linked to real-life experiences and future career opportunities. Candidates with vocational or industry backgrounds can bring valuable practical knowledge, helping young people develop confidence, aspirations and employability skills.

Why This Role?

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than just a classroom support position. You will become part of a dedicated team helping young people overcome barriers, re-engage with learning and achieve outcomes they may never have thought possible.

If you're the type of person who builds rapport quickly, thrives on making a positive impact and isn't afraid of a challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
