Job description

Are you passionate about working with young people with challenging behaviour?

Teaching Personnel are currently working with an SEMH Special Provision in Bury to recruit multiple Behaviour Support Assistants that are eager to gain experience supporting young people with complex and co-occurring social, emotional and mental health needs. The school has a strong focus on providing a nurturing environment where pupils grow and develop their life skills and independence. You would gain experience assisting young people from the ages of 11 – 16, who are currently out of mainstream education due to social, behavioural and trauma related needs.

The ideal candidate should:

-          Have previous experience working with individuals with SEMH and or SEND needs

-          Have experience working with young people in an educational setting  

-          Have a team teach qualification or experience with difficult behaviour

-          Work well in a team and build strong relationships

-          Advanced communication and interpersonal skills

-          Be approachable, empathetic and patient

Responsibilities:

-          Provide 1 to 1 and small group support to students with challenging and complex behaviour

-          Assist the classroom staff to deliver an inclusive learning environment

-          Implement SEMH needs, learning styles and strategies

-          Manage challenging behaviour effectively and safely

-          Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
