Behaviour Support Mentor – Bath

Location: Bath
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time or Part-time, Term-time only (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm)
Contract: Ongoing with the potential for a permanent placement


Job Summary

We are recruiting a Behaviour Support Mentor to work in a secondary school in Bath. This role is ideal for candidates who want to support young people with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or Special Educational Needs (SEN). The role focuses on helping students aged 11–16 improve their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour

  • Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour and social skills

  • Help students improve focus, motivation and confidence in the classroom

  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to de-escalate incidents

  • Adapt approaches to meet individual learning and emotional needs

  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to implement support plans

  • Promote positive routines, resilience and consistent boundaries


Candidate Requirements

We welcome applications from:

  • Graduates in Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology or Youth Studies

  • Sports coaches, creative practitioners or individuals experienced in youth engagement

  • Support Workers, Youth Workers, Mentors or Teaching Assistants

  • Individuals with experience supporting vulnerable young people

  • Candidates looking for Behaviour Mentor, Behaviour Support Worker or SEN Teaching Assistant roles in Bath

Essential qualities include:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Patience, resilience and a calm approach

  • A genuine interest in SEMH, SEN and behaviour support

  • A valid DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one

No formal education experience is required. Training and guidance are provided.
