We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and nurturing Primary School community. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with behavioural and emotional difficulties, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.
Job Title: Behaviour Support SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Nelson
Contract Type: Full-Time
Salary: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
Start Date: 1st September 2025
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with behavioural needs
- Implement personalised strategies and behaviour support plans under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and learning
- Support pupils in developing self-regulation skills, emotional awareness, and resilience
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff and external agencies to ensure consistency and progress
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children with SEN and/or behavioural challenges
- Remains calm, consistent and empathetic in challenging situations
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is proactive, adaptable, and willing to learn
- Holds relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Team Teach, or equivalent), though not essential for the right candidate

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
