Behaviour mentor/youth worker support position available near Lewisham

A successful pupil referral unit (PRU) situated in a spacious building near Lewisham is looking to recruit a teaching assistant who can make a difference supporting secondary aged students with very challenging behaviour.

Any of the following qualities/experience would be suitable in applying for this role:

  • Youth work or other PRU experience
  • Ability to engage with young people with behavioural difficulties
  • Interest in sports, psychology or sociology
  • Training in behaviour management, de-escalation, Team Teach, restraint or physical intervention techniques
  • Classroom based experience

This role will start after the February half term and last for the rest of the academic year if you get on well. The pay rate offered is between £60 and £85 per day, dependent on experience and will be increased through the year based on performance and attendance. Teaching Personnel also pays a national insurance and pension contribution for you, and there is a £50 bonus available for every other teacher or teaching assistant that you recommend to Teaching Personnel.

The school has a great staff team who all work together for the benefit of the students. Lessons are planned collaboratively and there is a strong relationship between teachers and support staff. The school has INSET training days spread throughout the year which you will be invited to take part in.
