Behaviour Mentor – Treorchy
Location: Treorchy, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Pay: £89 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only

Are you a confident, resilient professional with a passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning? We’re looking for an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and supportive specialist setting in Treorchy.

About the Role

This rewarding position involves supporting pupils aged 7–11 who are currently unable to attend mainstream education due to a range of needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, autism, and medical conditions. The school provides a nurturing, highly structured environment designed to meet each child’s individual needs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group support to engage pupils in learning

  • Helping students develop positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation skills

  • Supporting and contributing to behaviour intervention plans

  • De-escalating challenging behaviours and applying appropriate interventions (including physical intervention if trained)

  • Collaborating with a team of skilled and compassionate Behaviour Mentors and staff

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience working with children with SEMH, autism, or additional learning needs

  • Strong behaviour management skills and confidence setting clear, consistent boundaries

  • Ability to build trusting and professional relationships with pupils

  • A calm, proactive, and team-focused approach

  • Experience in roles such as Teaching Assistant, HLTA, Youth Worker, or similar support-based positions is highly desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
