Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Behavioural Mentor / Teaching Assistant to join an Outstanding Primary School in Bermondsey.

The school provides education for children whose severe Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties have led to them not being able to cope in a mainstream setting. Due to an increase in pupil numbers, they are looking for full-time staff that can start immediately. The school is looking for someone who is also open to career development opportunities within the school.

The role:

  • Be open to supporting challenging behaviours, mental health and social difficulties 
  • Promote positive behaviour and interactions with children/staff •
  • Improve each students view of him/herself, building on their self-esteem and confidence
  •  Help each child identify and acknowledge the social, emotional or behavioural problems which they face and learn skills for coping with them in a positive way
  •  Provide a secure, stable and caring environment in which every child can grow and develop

The ideal candidate:

  • Available Full time, Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 15:30, school term time only
  • Have previous experience working with Challenging Behaviour, mental health or vulnerable children
  • Have school or learning based experience
  • Willing to make a difference in helping children to achieve their full potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later
