Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner by negotiation)

Empower Young People to Succeed

We are looking to appoint a committed, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join our dedicated pastoral team at our secondary school in Northampton. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers, improve behaviour and achieve success both academically and personally.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional or pastoral support, helping them to develop positive relationships, self-confidence and strategies for success within school.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group mentoring support for students
  • Supporting students with behavioural, emotional and social needs
  • Promoting positive attitudes to learning, attendance and behaviour
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with students
  • Working collaboratively with pastoral leaders, SEND staff, teachers and families
  • Supporting restorative conversations and behaviour interventions
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records
  • Helping to create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with young people in a school, youth work or mentoring setting
  • Is calm, patient and able to build positive relationships
  • Has excellent communication and behaviour management skills
  • Is resilient and able to work effectively under pressure
  • Understands the challenges some young people face and can provide consistent support
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, SEND or challenging behaviour would be advantageous but is not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
