Needs that the students have vary. They may require emotional support, assistance reading and/or writing. Some students may need assistance with managing their anger and stress levels. You will get to know your students and the things that cause them unnecessary stress, your role is to help steer them away from getting to the point where they are feeling overwhelmed. Support is centred around each student as an individual.

We are looking for a versatile and resilient individual who can support pupils calmly and confidently. You will be required to manage challenging behaviour and work with other members of staff to try and keep young persons calm and engaged.

Students may have significant communication difficulties. They may be non-verbal and communicate through a form of signing or suggestion.

  • Versatile and resilient to work with challenging behaviour
  • Experience working with students who have significant communication difficulties - any experience of Makaton, MAPA or PECS is desired

  • Experience working in challenging SEN environments with a range of abilities and SEN needs
  • Confident to work as part of a thriving multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience within Pupil Referral Units
  • Able to inspire and engage students
  • Vocational and Professional qualifications are desirable but not essential. It is about your character and abilities within the role.
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the update service (or willing to apply for this)

Benefits of this role includes;

  • Wage of £9.50-£10.50 an hour (based on experience)
  • Monday to Friday working hours
  • Access to Teaching Personnel's CPD courses
  • Your very own designated consultant throughout the process
