Job Advertisement: Behaviour Mentor
Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Chorlton. This full-time role starts in January and continues until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work directly with students who require additional support to manage their behavior, overcome challenges, and engage positively with their education. This vital role involves helping students develop self-discipline, resilience, and strategies for success in a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring to students, focusing on behavior management, emotional regulation, and personal development.
- Work with teaching and pastoral staff to identify students in need of additional behavioral support and develop individualized plans.
- Support classroom learning by promoting positive behavior and addressing disruptions or challenges as they arise.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a role model and advocate for their well-being and success.
- Collaborate with staff and external professionals to deliver tailored interventions and strategies.
- Monitor and document student progress, contributing to reports and support plans.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and restorative practices to encourage accountability and positive interactions among students.
- Assist in creating and maintaining an inclusive school environment where all students feel valued and supported.

What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with young people in a school, youth work, or community setting, particularly those with behavioral or emotional needs.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
- Be empathetic, patient, and solution-focused when addressing challenges.
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding and behavior management strategies.
- Show a commitment to promoting inclusion and supporting students’ personal growth.
- Be organized, proactive, and collaborative, able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be available full-time from January through to the end of the academic year.
A background in education, youth work, counseling, or social work is desirable. Relevant qualifications, such as a degree or training in behavior management, would be advantageous but are not essential.
