Behaviour intervention learning support assistant
Start: ASAP
Permanent opportunity for the right candidate
37 hrs per week, 39 weeks pa (holidays to be taken during school closure)
The school is seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support students with complex needs. They would welcome applications if you are experienced, or looking to have a change in career (and take up new challenges), or seeking an in-school role before training to be a teacher. The successful candidate will be required to provide learning and care support on a 1:1, small group and in class basis. Good communication, IT skills and a high level of literacy and numeracy are essential to the post. Ideally, you will be educated to degree level (Psychology degree desirable, although not essential) and you will have GCSE English and Maths C grade minimum.
As a specialist behaviour learning support assistant, you will be required too:
- To provide support and guidance for pupils who are at risk due to social/emotional needs and challenging behaviour.
- To support staff in developing strategies that develop emotional well-being and emotional intelligence of all pupils
- To provide class cover for absent staff
- To provide support and guidance for pupils through mentoring.
- To work with individuals or groups of children; who are experiencing difficulties with emotional and challenging behaviour or other aspects of school or home life.
At an appropriate level, according to the job role, grade and training received, all employees in the school are expected to:
- Support the aims, values, mission and ethos of the school and participate in a team approach to all aspect of school life.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings and INSET days as required; identify areas of personal practice and experience to develop.
- Take appropriate responsibility for safeguarding and children’s welfare and be aware of confidential issues linked to home, child, teacher, school and keep confidences appropriately.
- Be aware of health and safety issues and act in accordance with the schools Health and Safety Policy.
