Behaviour and Interventions Teaching Assistant – Lancaster & Morecambe Areas

Location: Lancaster & Morecambe (LA1–LA4)
Start Date: February 2026
Contract: Full-time opportunities available
Pay: Competitive rates, weekly PAYE

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour and Interventions Teaching Assistant to support pupils across primary schools in the Lancaster and Morecambe areas. This role is ideal for someone passionate about pupil wellbeing, behaviour support, and delivering high‑quality academic interventions to help children reach their full potential.


About the Role

As a Behaviour and Interventions Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting pupils who require additional guidance, structure, and targeted intervention. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering tailored 1:1 and small‑group academic interventions, including phonics and early literacy support
  • Providing behavioural and emotional regulation guidance using calm, consistent approaches
  • Supporting children with EAL, helping them build confidence and access learning successfully
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCo, and pastoral teams to implement personalised support plans
  • Reinforcing school behaviour expectations through positive role‑modelling and encouragement
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils to promote engagement, resilience, and wellbeing

What We’re Looking For

Behaviour & Pastoral Skills

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience supporting children with behavioural challenges
  • Ability to recognise triggers, apply de‑escalation strategies, and use positive reinforcement
  • Confidence following school behaviour policies while adapting responses to individual needs
  • Experience delivering behaviour‑focused interventions, mentoring, or wellbeing sessions
  • A calm, consistent, and patient approach, even during challenging situations
  • Understanding of safeguarding and emotional factors influencing pupil behaviour
  • Resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people

Intervention & Academic Support

You should also be confident with:

  • Delivering structured learning interventions, particularly phonics and early literacy
  • Supporting pupils with EAL and adapting content to meet diverse learning needs
  • Communicating clearly and sensitively with pupils of varying abilities
  • Working independently as well as collaboratively within a wider team

Experience in primary school settings, pastoral roles, mentoring, or SEN support will be beneficial.
