SEMH Secondary School (Agency / Temporary), Leyland, PR26
We are currently recruiting a Behaviour Support Worker to work on a temporary agency basis within a specialist SEMH secondary school in the Leyland (PR26) area. This role is supporting students of secondary age who present with social, emotional and mental health needs and associated challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will provide targeted behavioural and emotional support both in and out of the classroom, helping students to engage positively with learning and develop coping strategies. You will work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams and external professionals to implement behaviour support plans and maintain a safe, structured learning environment.
Key responsibilities include supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis, managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour, promoting emotional regulation and positive relationships, and assisting with academic tasks where appropriate. Maintaining clear boundaries, consistency and a trauma-informed approach is essential.
Previous experience working with SEMH, behaviour support, youth work, residential care, SEN, or similar settings is highly desirable. A calm, resilient and empathetic approach is essential, along with the ability to build strong professional relationships with young people.
This is a temporary agency role, offering flexible work within a supportive specialist setting. The position is suitable for individuals seeking experience in SEMH education or those with existing behaviour support experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
