Are you a sports coach, rugby player, football coach, PE graduate, gym instructor, personal trainer, youth worker, behaviour mentor, or someone with a passion for helping young people succeed? ⚽

We are seeking a resilient, energetic, and highly motivated Behaviour & Sport Teaching Assistant to join a thriving Specialist Teaching Facility (STF) within a primary school setting. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys being active, building positive relationships, and making a genuine impact on the lives of children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils who require additional help to access education due to a variety of needs, including:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
⚡ ADHD and attention difficulties
Speech, language and communication needs
Moderate learning difficulties
❤️ Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
Sensory processing difficulties
Behavioural challenges linked to emotional regulation and communication

Many of the pupils respond exceptionally well to positive role models, structured routines, and engaging practical activities. Your sporting background will allow you to use games, teamwork, exercise, and physical activities to build trust, confidence, resilience, and encourage positive behaviours both inside and outside of the classroom.

The Role

No two days are the same. One moment you could be supporting a child to regulate their emotions through physical activity, and the next you could be helping a small group develop teamwork skills through structured games and classroom activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

✅ Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
✅ Using sport and physical activity as a tool for engagement and behaviour support
✅ Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
✅ Implementing behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques
✅ Supporting classroom learning and educational activities
✅ Building positive relationships with pupils who may find school challenging
✅ Encouraging communication, social interaction, and independence
✅ Working closely with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff to achieve pupil goals
