Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside a Primary School in L18 who are looking to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant. The role will be supporting a child in with ASD in year 5 on a 1:1 basis. The role is expected to start after February half term / start of March, they are requiring someone to be flexible due to monitoring the childs progress. The length of the role will be dependant on the successful transition of the pupil. Experience working with pupils with Autism and using social stories is essential

Social stories - These are stories used to show guidance on what to expect or how to respond to a situation. This type of story telling is used for pupils with autism so they can learn about unfamiliar situations as a way to reduce anxiety. Social stories, use pictures and actions and provide information on how to behave in situations. eg clapping when at a pantomime or covering their ears when clapping happens if this is a trigger for the child.

The ideal candidate needs to have had experience working with pupils with the following:

·          Autism

·          Social Stories

·          Challenging behaviour

This school is larger than the average-sized primary school based in L18, most pupils are of White British heritage. The number of pupils from minority ethnic groups is broadly average, as is the number of pupils who speak English as an additional language. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
