Attendance Officer – Upminster, Essex
Salary: £34,416 – £35,448 per annum (Grade 6, SCP 18–20 – Outer London)
Contract Type: Support Staff (Permanent) | Full-Time
Hours: 36 hours per week (08:30 – 16:30) | 52.14 weeks per year
Location: Upminster, Essex
Our client, a successful and oversubscribed coeducational secondary school based in Upminster, is seeking to appoint an ambitious and experienced Attendance Officer to join their dynamic support staff team. The Role:
As Attendance Officer, you will take a lead role in managing and improving whole-school attendance. Working closely with students, families, and external agencies, you will monitor and analyse attendance data, implement intervention strategies, and ensure compliance with attendance legislation. This is a key pastoral role within the school’s wider safeguarding and inclusion strategy.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and track student attendance, identifying patterns and concerns

Liaise with families to offer guidance and support around attendance issues

Work with the senior leadership team and external agencies to implement attendance strategies

Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting in line with statutory guidelines

Champion excellent attendance and punctuality across the school community
The Ideal Candidate:

A proven track record of working in a school or similar environment in a similar role
-
In-depth knowledge of attendance legislation and safeguarding practices

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with students, families, and staff

Highly organised with strong data analysis and administrative skills
-
A clear communicator with the drive to improve outcomes for all students
