About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant SENDCO to join a thriving partnership school in North Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional to support the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision within the school, ensuring every pupil receives the tailored support they need to succeed.

As Assistant SENDCO, you will work closely with the SENDCO and senior leadership team to implement and monitor effective strategies for pupils with additional needs. You will play a key role in coordinating support plans, liaising with staff and external agencies, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the SENDCO in managing and delivering the school’s SEND provision.
  • Support the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Coordinate interventions and monitor progress for pupils with SEND.
  • Provide guidance and training to teaching and support staff on inclusive practices.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure collaborative support.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to statutory reporting.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Coordinator, SENDCO, or in a role with significant SEN responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.

Desirable

  • Relevant SEND qualifications or willingness to undertake further training.
  • Experience working within a mainstream or specialist school setting.
