Job description

ASC Teaching Assistant – Primary School | Bispham | Long-Term Role

We are recruiting a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a primary setting in Bispham. This long-term role involves working closely with children who may experience sensory sensitivities, communication challenges, and difficulties with emotional regulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASC
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering structured, predictable routines
  • Support communication strategies, including visual aids and alternative methods
  • Promote emotional regulation and reduce anxiety through consistent approaches
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing throughout the school day

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with ASC or related needs
  • Understanding of sensory processing and communication differences
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
