1:1 ASC Teaching Assistant – Primary School | Great Eccleston (PR3) | Long-Term Role

We are recruiting a dedicated and patient Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a primary school located in Great Eccleston (PR3). This is a long-term role, offering consistency and the chance to make a meaningful impact in one child’s school experience.

The pupil presents with frustration-based behaviours, particularly when dysregulated or unable to leave a space. The successful candidate will need to use calm, consistent strategies to support emotional regulation and communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Implement structured routines and visual communication strategies
  • Support emotional regulation and reduce anxiety triggers
  • Build a trusting relationship with the pupil and work closely with the class teacher
  • Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with ASC or similar needs
  • Understanding of non-verbal communication and sensory processing
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
