Art Teacher

Are you an Art Teacher currently looking for a new opportunity within a local Secondary SEN School?

Teaching Personnel are recruiting an Art Teacher for an SEN School in Portsmouth. The position will involve teaching Art across Key Stage 3 and 4. A successful candidate will be required to teach Art and Design to a high standard, matching the school values of providing exceptional education and care to support each student. We are looking for someone who; has UK QTS, is confident teaching up to Key Stage 4, ideally with recent teaching experience. The perfect candidate will be passionate about education and will be dedicated to assisting this Art Department in helping pupils achieve high attainment and progress rates.

The school caters for pupils  with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) whose needs are unable to be met in mainstream school. Due to this, class sizes are much smaller and there is a higher number of support staff on hand. They are looking for an experienced teacher to teach a group of 8 pupils with complex SEMH needs. Due to this, they require someone who ideally has had previous experience of working in a similar setting, or enjoys working in a challenging environment. You need to be empathetic, have the ability to build strong relationships and have strong behaviour management skills.

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Art teacher to showcase their abilities, plan and deliver structured lessons and promote excellent outcomes by pupils. Candidates should be able to adapt their teaching methods to respond to the different needs of pupils and manage behaviour with fantastic classroom management. 

This role will include:

-       Preparing and delivering lessons to Key Stage 3/4 students Using a range of different learning resources and equipment

-       A Teacher who can work with SEN students, mainly managing pupil behaviour in the classroom and on school premises.

-       Communicating with parents and carers over pupils' progress

-       Moving and handling / Team- Teach qualification (desired)

-       An empathetic and caring personality
