September Start | Full-Time | Primary School | Monday – Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Barry from September.

This full-time position will involve supporting one pupil throughout the school day, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and reach their full potential. The school is looking for someone who is patient, reliable, and able to build a positive relationship with the child while working closely with the class teacher and ALNCo.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting a pupil both academically and emotionally. Every day will be different, but your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated one-to-one classroom support
  • Adapting learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs
  • Encouraging engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Helping the pupil access the Curriculum for Wales alongside their peers
  • Recording observations and providing feedback to the class teacher and ALNCo
  • Building a consistent and supportive relationship with the pupil and their family where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children, ideally within a primary school or educational setting
  • Has experience supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), or transferable experience from care, youth work, or similar roles
  • Is calm, patient, and resilient
  • Can communicate effectively with pupils and staff
  • Is committed to helping every child achieve their full potential

What Teaching Personnel Offers

  • £13.75+ per hour, paid weekly through PAYE
  • A full-time role for the academic year
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Teaching Personnel consultant
  • Free CPD and training courses, including Autism Awareness, Behaviour Management, and Understanding ALN
  • Assistance with Enhanced DBS and EWC Registration if required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
