Make a Real Difference in a Child’s Life Every Day

Are you a caring, resilient and proactive individual with a passion for supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)? Do you have experience working with a range of complex needs such as ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), and behavioural challenges?

We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled ALN Classroom Assistants to join dedicated school teams across Carmarthenshire from September 2025. These are incredibly rewarding roles where no two days are the same.

What You'll Be Doing

As an ALN Classroom Assistant, your role is to provide consistent, tailored support to pupils with a wide range of learning needs. You will work alongside teachers, ALNCOs, and specialist staff to help each child reach their full potential—emotionally, socially, and academically.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Offering 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ALN
  • Assisting students with communication, sensory processing, and emotional regulation strategies
  • Supporting the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) or Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
  • Adapting learning materials and activities to suit individual needs and abilities
  • Providing personal care or physical support (where required), including use of mobility aids or hoisting
  • Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Encouraging social interaction, independence, and confidence both in and out of the classroom
  • Working collaboratively with the wider staff team and external specialists (e.g. speech & language therapists, occupational therapists)

✅ What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with ALN (including PMLD, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or behavioural difficulties)
  • A calm, nurturing, and flexible approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Resilience and a genuine passion for inclusive education
  • Own transport and willingness to travel within a 30-minute radius
  • ALN-related training or qualifications (desirable, but not essential)

What We Offer

  • A chance to work in warm, welcoming schools with experienced ALN teams
  • Ongoing CPD and training opportunities (e.g. Team Teach, Autism awareness, Makaton, manual handling)
  • Competitive rates of pay based on experience and responsibilities
  • Flexible working options to fit around your lifestyle
  • A dedicated point of contact for support and career development
