1:1 Teaching Assistant

Primary School | KS1 | September Start
Do you have experience helping children overcome barriers to learning?
A primary school in Penarth is looking for a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work with a pupil in Key Stage 1 who requires additional support with their learning and communication.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working closely with one child and can provide the patience and encouragement needed to help them become more confident and independent.
The focus of the role will be:
Learning
- Supporting the pupil during literacy and numeracy
- Breaking tasks down into manageable steps
- Encouraging the pupil to participate in lessons
- Helping them develop independence
Communication
- Supporting the development of communication skills
- Encouraging interaction with peers
- Using appropriate strategies to help the pupil communicate their needs
Wellbeing
- Providing reassurance when the pupil becomes overwhelmed
- Supporting emotional regulation
- Helping maintain a calm and predictable environment
The ideal candidate
Previous experience working with children with speech, language and communication needs, developmental delays or other ALN would be beneficial.
The school is looking for somebody who is:
- Patient and understanding
- Consistent in their approach
- A strong communicator
- Comfortable working independently
- Able to develop a positive relationship with the pupil
Working through Teaching Personnel
You'll receive £13.75+ per hour, paid weekly through PAYE, alongside ongoing support from your consultant and access to free training and CPD.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
