1:1 Teaching Assistant

September 2026 Start | Full-Time | Primary School | £13.75+ per hour
Teaching Personnel are working with a primary school in Barry that is looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who understands the importance of consistency, routine and building trust with a child who may need additional support to access their learning.
Your role will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Helping the pupil access lessons and classroom activities
- Supporting communication and social interaction
- Encouraging positive engagement with peers
- Helping the pupil manage transitions between activities
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
- Adapting resources and activities where appropriate
- Working closely with the class teacher and ALNCo
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience supporting children with ASD or similar ALN
- Is patient, calm and consistent
- Understands the importance of routine
- Can build a strong relationship with the pupil
- Is confident working as part of a wider school team
Teaching Personnel offers:
- £13.75+ per hour, paid weekly through PAYE
- Full-time Monday-Friday hours
- Dedicated consultant support
- Free CPD and ALN-specific training
- Support with DBS and EWC registration if required
- Potential for longer-term and permanent opportunities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
