1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel are currently looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to start part-time in a primary school based in Stoke, starting after October half-term. This is a long-term role with the opportunity to go permanent on the school.
About the role:
- Start-date: 17th November
- Part-time to support a students phased return to school
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working 1-1 with a pupil to improve the transition coming back into school. The student is non-verbal and has complex SEN as well as physical needs. You will work closely with the student to support socially, emotionally and academically. This includes creating engaging sensory activities as well as aiming to improve the student’s confidence and communication. You will work closely with the students’ parents/carers to provide regular progress updates, as well as external agencies when necessary.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience working with young people with complex SEN needs is necessary
- Good knowledge of SEN practices and ability to create engaging learning experiences
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both the student and other staff members
- A calm, supportive, and empathetic approach
- Safeguarding training (must be completed through Teaching Personnel)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
