The prevent duty

The primary aim of this free online course and resources, is to build your awareness and knowledge of what extremism and radicalisation are, how people may be drawn into terrorism and what you should do if you have a concern about a child or young person.

Radicalisation is defined as the act or process of making a person more radical or favouring of extreme or fundamental changes in political, economic or social conditions, institutions or habits of the mind.  Extremism is defined as the holding of extreme political or religious views. It’s important that all candidates understand Prevent and the role they play in helping schools meet its Prevent duty.

The Home office has produced key resources, workshops and free training programmes to help you understand Prevent and how to keep students safe from extremism and radicalisation.
