Youth Work teaching assistant

  • School easily accessible via tram links for non-drivers
  • Long term full time position starting immediately
  • Negotiable daily rate (£250 - £325 per week)

Are you a teaching assistant with previous experience in Youth Work looking to gain long term employment in a secondary school?

Due to additional funding, our client school in Oldham are looking to appoint a Youth Work teaching assistant to support their vulnerable students during their time in mainstream education. You will be responsible for supporting students from wide ranging backgrounds with pastoral and emotional support.

- Raise attainment and encourage pupil participation in education

- Relay feedback to pastoral and faculty leaders for students under your supervision

- Attractive daily pay up to £75 per day dependant on experience

Our client school is of greater size and numbers in comparison to the average secondary school with over 1300 students enrol this academic year, though numbers are expected to climb throughout the year due to an inclusive intake policy. The school was recently had a positive gradual from Ofsted showing signs of improvement across the board, with behaviour and safety of the pupils a key feature. As a newly built secondary, incoming staff and students are able to benefit from excellent provisions for learning and the Principal has been at the forefront in cultivating a climate for learning in which students are encouraged to succeed.

Due to the nature of the support, incoming Youth Work teaching assistants will be required to have a patient and calming manner to ensure that vulnerable students can feel at ease during school. You may be required to support the students independently away from mainstream lessons as well as supporting when students are working in a learning resource, previous experience working with LAC and SEMH in education would be beneficial.
