Youth Support Worker (In School Support)

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Youth Support Worker to join our in-school support team. In this role, you will work directly with students to promote wellbeing, engagement, and positive educational outcomes. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, help students build resilience, and work collaboratively with teaching staff, families, and external agencies.

The school is two form entry and located within the City Centre of Bristol. As well as ensuring pupils enjoy their school day, this school has a fantastic reputaiton for community involvement and supporting families within the local area.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide emotional, behavioural, and practical support to students during the school day.

  • Build trusting relationships with young people to help them feel safe, supported, and valued.

  • Deliver interventions and mentoring that support social skills, attendance, engagement, and personal development.

  • Work with staff to identify students who would benefit from additional support.

  • Assist with behaviour management strategies and contribute to a positive school culture.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and report safeguarding concerns in line with policy.

  • Liaise with parents/carers and external services where appropriate.

You will need to be/have:

  • Passionate about supporting young people and committed to helping them thrive.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient with a calm, supportive approach.

  • Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary school team.

  • Previous experience in youth work, education, social care, or related fields is desirable.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures (training can be provided).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
