Job description

We are looking to appoint a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive school in Darlington from September 2026.

This rewarding role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential during this crucial stage of primary education.

The Role

  • Teaching a Year 6 class with a strong focus on inclusion and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEN and SEMH needs
  • Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence and progress
  • Working closely with SENDCOs, support staff, external agencies, and parents
  • Preparing pupils for SATs while prioritising wellbeing and personal development

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience supporting children with SEN and/or SEMH needs
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Be patient, nurturing, and emotionally resilient
  • Have high expectations alongside a therapeutic and understanding approach
  • Be committed to inclusive education and raising attainment for all learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
