Full-Time SEN Teacher – Darlington

We are looking to appoint a committed, compassionate, and skilled teacher to join our team in Darlington, working full-time with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Location: Darlington, County Durham
Start Date: September
Contract Type: Full-time

About the Role:
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with a range of additional needs. You will be responsible for planning and delivering personalised learning experiences that support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver tailored, engaging lessons to meet a range of SEN needs (e.g. ASD, SEMH, MLD, SLD)
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience working with pupils with SEN (school-based or specialist setting)
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Be confident in adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse needs
  • Have strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Be committed to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing

Desirable:

  • Experience in a specialist SEN setting or resource base
  • Training in areas such as autism support, Team Teach, or speech and language strategies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
