Large Two form entry community school in North Manchester (M8) requires a Year 6 Teaching Assistant to start on a fixed term contract from Easter for one academic year.
Experience preparing small groups
OFSTED graded 'Good' School
Opportunity for it to carry on in to the next academic year
Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside a large two from entry primary school in North Manchester to find an experienced Year 6 Teaching Assistant for an Easter start. The role will include preparing small groups of pupils who are not achieving expected progress and going through past papers with the groups in detail to ensure wording of questions is fully understood. The groups will be of a mixed ability so patience and persistence will be required to ensure the lower ability are fully understanding as well as the higher ability being stretched. The ideal candidate will also be expected to provide general support to the class teacher throughout the week with preparation, resources and general help with classroom management required.
The school in question has been graded 'Good' by OFSTED and is said to be an inviting place to work with a friendly and diverse staffing team as well as a strong but approachable Head Teacher. As the school is two form entry there is a large staffing team with at least one teaching assistant in each class as well as certain classes having additional support providing this in a 1:1 capacity. The reasoning behind this role is to cover a maternity so the ideal candidate will be expected to hit the ground running. They will also be expected to deliver confident and engaging intervention sessions in preparation for the SATs
Job highlights:
- Potential to carry on in to the next academic year
- Strong and supportive staff
- Long term role for at least one year
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
