Year 4 ADHD Support Assistant
Primary School in Leyland
30 hours per week (6 hours per day)
1:1 Support role in a GOOD Primary School
The SENCO and Headteacher of a one form entry Primary School in the heart of Leyland are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to start on a temporary basis in school. The role will be to support a child moving up into Year 4who requires full time support to enable him to work in class with the other children. The support will be in place all morning and afternoon with the child and the sole purpose of this appointment will be to support the behaviour and academic of the individual child to ensure good progress is made and their needs are met every day. The Head teacher is well driven and well respected by staff, children and parents. The SLT are keen to further prepare the school to receive an OUTSTANDING grading and so any new members of staff need to be prepared. This role will initially begin from as soon as possible and continue on a probation period up until the Easter holidays which are generally in line with the Lancashire holiday pattern. Providing the child engages well with the support, there is the potential for a school contract following a successful probatory period.
Based on the conversations with the Head teacher and SENCO in school, we are aware of the individual child's needs. The child in question will be moving up in to Y4 and currently working below age related levels. The child has been known to be physical towards other children and sometimes staff. It is therefore important that the successful candidate has prior experience in education or care settings supporting children and or adults displaying these types of behaviours. There is also a need for the successful candidate to approach the child in a nurturing manner but also one which sets fresh boundaries. The head teacher has mentioned that it would be good to appoint a TA who is a 'natural' around children and can easily transition when the child displays these tendancies.
The role does have the potential to run until the end of the academic year and potentially until the child finishes school. There is no guarantee at this point that the successful candidate will continue into the next academic year.
Registration with Teaching Personnel is very efficient but does rely on the applying candidates to hold a valid DBS on the update service; two education or care setting references7to be graded and other qualification and document confirmation. If you are unsure of how this role will work with an agency, or you have any reservations then please see our recent GOOGLE reviews or check the Teaching Personnel website. Pay will be discussed at the interview stage as will the name of the school and other work related issues. Please contact me in the office for further information.
