About the Role

We are seeking a enthusiastic and dedicated General Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 class within a welcoming and inclusive Burnley primary school. This is a full‑time, long‑term position beginning in May 2026, ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children learn, develop, and thrive.

As a key part of the classroom team, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide high‑quality support, deliver small‑group and 1:1 interventions, and contribute to creating a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day classroom support for teaching and learning in Year 4
• Deliver small‑group activities and targeted interventions
• Assist with planning, preparation and organisation of learning materials
• Support pupils with varying needs to ensure full inclusion and engagement
• Promote positive behaviour and act as a role model for pupils
• Contribute to assessments, observations, and record‑keeping where required
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and parents
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inspiring learning environment

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working with primary-aged children (preferably KS2)
• A patient, caring and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Good understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
