Year 1 Class Teacher

Location: Borough of Barnet

Start Date: April 2018

Contract type: 1yr fixed term

Contract term: Permanent

Salary: M1 - M2 (Outer London)

A reputable primary school in Hendon are currently looking for an enthusiastic teacher to join them in the Summer Term as one of their permanent members of staff will be going on a long term sickness. The teacher should have experience teaching Lower KS1 and a genuine passion for student engagement within lessons. In the school's last Ofsted review they were rewarded Good due to the quality of teaching continuously endeavour to maintain and improve how the national curriculum is taught. The school is a three form entry and is partnered with a junior school to provide stability to all students and mould conscientious citizens in the local community. All classrooms are equipped with modern equipment and the children have access to a large library which is stocked termly with new recourses. The successful candidate will be someone who is able to join in efforts to reveal the schools full potential in getting students ready for secondary school.

The school gives all teachers opportunities to adapt the national curriculum in a teaching style that adheres to the learning abilities within the class. In addition to this, the school boasts a friendly and energetic school environment where both staff and students benefit from regular training sessions and extra curricular activities.

What we are looking for?

  • Qualified Teaching Status
  • Currently completing PGCE
  • Passionate about Teaching
  • Possess a Valid DBS certificate
  • Interested in teaching KS1
  • Experience working with SEN pupils (desired but not essential)

About the Role

As the year 1 class teacher you will be responsible for ensuring that all class work is planned, prepared and marked. This school is looking for a teacher who will be able to deliver lessons that are not only fun and engaging but can clearly identify pupils who require additional support. You will have full reign over how the lessons are taught, focusing more specifically on the engagement of students with in the lessons and cultivating a genuine passion for learning. In the classroom, you will have a general teaching assistant and also a 1-1 teaching assistant who currently supports a child with Global Learning Delay.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
