1:1 Tutor – Primary, Secondary, GCSE & SEND | Northampton

Location: Northampton & surrounding areas
Job Type: Part-time, flexible
Hours: Monday to Friday, daytime/school hours
Pay Rate: Competitive, dependent on assignment and Local Authority

TP Tutors is looking for experienced and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to provide tailored educational support to children and young people across Northampton and surrounding areas.

This is an opportunity to use your teaching or tutoring experience to support learners who may be facing barriers to education. You could be working with pupils who are unable to access mainstream education, require additional academic intervention, or have SEND, SEMH needs or an EHCP.

What the Role Involves

As a 1:1 Tutor, you will provide engaging, structured and personalised lessons based on the individual learner's needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering tuition across Primary, Secondary and GCSE levels.
  • Following the UK National Curriculum and supporting identified learning objectives.
  • Planning and adapting lessons according to the learner's ability, interests, needs and learning style.
  • Providing targeted academic intervention and helping learners address gaps in their education.
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH needs and EHCPs.
  • Using creative, flexible and engaging teaching approaches.
  • Building positive and professional relationships with learners.
  • Creating a calm, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encouraging confidence, motivation, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Managing behaviour effectively and responding sensitively to individual challenges.
  • Monitoring learner progress and completing clear, accurate session reports.
  • Working collaboratively with schools, Local Authorities, parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Adapting your approach as the learner's needs, confidence and progress develop.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience delivering the UK National Curriculum.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patience, adaptability and a learner-centred approach.
  • Effective behaviour-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and build positive relationships with young people.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable

  • QTS or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with Primary, Secondary or GCSE learners.
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH or EHCPs.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 tuition, intervention or alternative provision.
