Are you an experienced teacher or tutor with a passion for helping pupils reach their full potential?

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is seeking dedicated 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised tuition to Primary and Secondary pupils across Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas.

We are particularly looking for tutors with strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science to deliver tailored one-to-one support within school settings during school hours.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who may require additional academic support, helping them build confidence, overcome barriers to learning and make meaningful progress.

Pay

Competitive pay, depending on experience, qualifications, subject expertise, pupil needs and the tuition assignment.

Working Pattern

  • Flexible part-time and full-time opportunities.
  • Tuition delivered within schools during school hours, Monday to Friday.
  • Opportunities to support both Primary and Secondary pupils.
  • Long-term and ongoing tuition assignments available.
  • Assignments available across Northamptonshire and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition within a school setting.
  • Support pupils across Primary and Secondary age groups.
  • Teach English, Maths and/or Science, depending on your subject expertise.
  • Plan lessons that are appropriate to each pupil's ability, curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils preparing for GCSEs and other relevant qualifications, where appropriate.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Identify learning gaps and provide targeted support to address them.
  • Monitor pupil progress and complete session reports.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils and school staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other education professionals where required.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Must-Have Requirements

  • A minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience teaching Primary and/or Secondary pupils.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science.
  • Good understanding of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 or small-group tuition is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to travel reliably to schools across Northamptonshire and surrounding areas.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia and speech and language needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils who have gaps in their education or are at risk of falling behind.
  • GCSE teaching and examination preparation experience.
  • Experience working within mainstream schools, specialist settings or alternative provision.
  • Knowledge and understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning plans.

Location

This role covers Northamptonshire and surrounding areas, including Northampton, Wellingborough, Kettering, Corby, Daventry, Towcester, Brackley and surrounding areas, depending on school requirements.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
