Job description

1:1 Tutor – Northampton Area

Location: Northampton and surrounding areas
Hours: School hours, Monday–Friday
Flexible / Part-Time / Term-Time
Competitive hourly pay

We are currently looking for experienced and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to support pupils in home or school settings across the Northampton area.

This rewarding role involves providing personalised educational support to children and young people who may need additional help due to SEN/SEND needs, SEMH, anxiety, school avoidance, or gaps in education. You will help pupils build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive academic outcomes through tailored one-to-one support.

The Role

  • Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition sessions during school hours
  • Adapt learning resources and teaching methods to suit individual needs
  • Support pupils academically, emotionally, and socially
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and schools
  • Encourage confidence, engagement, and independence in learning
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate session records

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience within the UK
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, flexible, and reliable approach
  • Ability to work independently
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Driving licence and access to transport preferred

Desirable Experience

Experience supporting pupils with:

  • SEN/SEND
  • Autism (ASD)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH needs
  • Anxiety or school avoidance

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
