1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based) – Cambridge Area

Location: Cambridge and surrounding areas
Hours: During school hours (flexible, part-time and full-time opportunities available)
Pay: Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience and qualifications

About the Role

We are looking for experienced and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to support pupils in their homes and school settings across the Cambridge area. This role involves delivering personalised educational programmes to children and young people who may be out of mainstream education, have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), medical needs, SEMH needs, or require additional support to access learning.

The successful candidate will be passionate about education, able to build positive relationships with pupils, and committed to helping young people achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging 1:1 tuition tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Plan, prepare, and adapt lessons in line with the National Curriculum and individual learning plans.
  • Support pupils academically while promoting confidence, motivation, and engagement.
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Liaise professionally with schools, parents/carers, and other professionals where required.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
  • Adhere to safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' teaching experience in a school, tutoring, or alternative provision setting.
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or those facing barriers to education is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Reliable transport and willingness to travel within the Cambridge area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
