Job description

1:1 Tutor – Cambridge Area

Location: Cambridge and surrounding areas
Hours: School hours, Monday–Friday
Flexible / Part-Time / Term-Time
Competitive hourly pay rates

We are currently recruiting experienced and passionate 1:1 Tutors to support pupils in home or school settings across the Cambridge area.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who may require additional educational support due to SEN/SEND needs, SEMH, anxiety, school avoidance, or gaps in learning. The role focuses on helping pupils build confidence, re-engage with education, and achieve positive outcomes through personalised one-to-one support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition sessions during school hours
  • Adapt teaching methods and learning resources to meet individual pupil needs
  • Support pupils academically, emotionally, and socially
  • Encourage confidence, engagement, and independence in learning
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and schools
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate session records
  • Provide a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience within the UK
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, flexible, and reliable approach
  • Ability to work independently and professionally
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Driving licence and access to transport preferred

Desirable Experience

Experience supporting pupils with:

  • SEN/SEND
  • Autism (ASD)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH needs
  • Anxiety or emotionally based school avoidance
