Location: Newport, South Wales
Pay Rate: £110-£120 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: September Start – End of Academic Year (Immediate start for the right applicant)

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting aspiring teachers and graduates to work as Cover Supervisors in one of our secondary schools across Newport. This role offers an excellent pathway into teaching, allowing you to develop classroom management skills, gain hands-on school experience, and build confidence working with young people.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-planned lessons during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged and focused on their learning. You'll gain exposure to a variety of subjects and year groups, making this the perfect stepping stone into a teaching career.
Whether you're a recent graduate, currently studying, or exploring a career change into education, this opportunity provides invaluable experience within a supportive secondary school environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Delivering pre-set lesson materials provided by teaching staff
- Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Supporting students with their learning and engagement
- Developing the skills needed for a future teaching career
Who We're Looking For
This role would suit individuals who:
- Are considering a PGCE, Schools Direct, or teacher training programme
- Hold a degree or are currently studying towards one
- Have experience working with young people through tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or volunteering
- Possess strong communication and leadership skills
- Are confident, adaptable, and enthusiastic
No previous teaching qualification is required.

Requirements
Successful applicants will need:
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- A minimum of two professional references covering the last 24 months
- Completion of a Level 2 Safeguarding Course as part of onboarding
