Teaching Assistant – Team Teach Trained Required

A Primary PRU School in Bournemouth is currently seeking a committed, resilient and Team Teach–trained Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team and support pupils with complex behavioural and emotional needs.

 

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant within this PRU setting, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils aged 4–11 years who present with a range of SEN and behavioural difficulties. A calm, patient and proactive approach is essential, as is the ability to apply Team Teach strategies to safely manage and de‑escalate challenging situations.

Pupils may have diagnoses including:

  • ADHD / ADD
  • Autism Spectrum Conditions
  • Conduct Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties

Who We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a dedicated, resilient and patient approach to supporting young people
  • Hold valid Team Teach training (essential)
  • Have experience supporting SEMH or mental health needs, either within or outside of an educational setting
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Be confident in de‑escalating challenging behaviour calmly, safely and effectively

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
