Teaching Assistant - Waltham Forest

We are looking to recruit a strong teaching assistant to support in an 'Outstanding' special needs school in the Waltham Forest Area. The specialist school cater for pupils on the autistic spectrum varying from low to high functioning and other special needs such as physical disabilities and behavioural needs. The school support pupils across the range of 4-16 years of age offering a bespoke education which is tailored to each individual need. We are looking for support in a KS3 group of 8 pupils, someone who is very hands on, enthusiastic and has experience of how to support autistic learners or those with special educational needs. You will be working with the class teacher and 2 other teaching assistants to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment, working cohesively as a team to deliver the aims of pupil's individual learning plans. We want to hear from you if you have the following attributes:

  • Must have previous experience working with autism or special needs
  • Pro active, engaging personality
  • PECS or Makaton training is highly desired
  • Able to support with toileting needs
  • Role is for an immediate start
